The City of Huntingburg and the Dubois County Community Foundation have awarded grants through the 2014 Huntingburg Assistance Fund.  The fund, which has been in place for over 20 years, provides local charities with grants to provide need-based services to the less fortunate.

“The holidays are always a time in which our community responds to those less fortunate, and it is no surprise that yet again this year we added $3,100 to the Huntingburg Assistance Fund Endowment, and provided $9,600 in grants to our charities doing good in Huntingburg, says Community Foundation CEO Brad Ward.  “We are grateful to the Mayor’s office for encouraging this giving opportunity each year.”

Grant recipients include Tri-Cap, for assistance with utilities, rent and medicine for seniors and low-income families; Shared Abundance/Christian Ministries for assistance for food to over 550 families; Generations for personal needs care and medical aids for seniors; Huntingburg Housing Authority for assistance for food, gas and work uniforms to residents; and Teen Outback for educational programs and assistance for school children.

“The recipients of this fund have excellent reputations for providing need-based services throughout our community,” says Huntingburg Mayor Denny Spinner.  “The Huntingburg Assistance Fund provides these organizations with the ability to offer dependable services to our residents for years to come.”
