Huntingburg Mayor Denny Spinner, Jasper Mayor Terry Seitz and Ferdinand Town Manager Chris James joined Ken Barlow, eGov Strategies Co-Founder and VP of Solutions, for an announcement regarding a comprehensive website and text message alert feature available on each of the municipalities’ websites. The community messaging portal provides users the ability to register to receive e-mail and text message alerts from any of the three municipalities’ websites. While each community will use the notification system independently, a consolidated messaging portal will be available on each website to ensure users can sign up through a simplified process.

“eGov Strategies is a company with more than 400 clients nationwide; however, we have always viewed the communities of Jasper, Huntingburg and Ferdinand as ‘trendsetters’ in how they use the Internet to connect with constituents,” says Barlow. “When they proposed a community-wide approach to messaging and alerts, we jumped at the chance to work with them to extend their current e-government platform, support their innovative vision and extend the value of their websites.”

Users will have the ability to receive by e-mail and text messaging alerts after registering an account. Each community messaging portal will feature a list of the various types of notifications that can be received from the municipalities selected by the user.

“Each of the municipalities recognized a need for faster communication in the event of utility emergencies,” says Mayor Spinner. “The fact that we were all using the same website host gave us an opportunity to leverage this unique messaging system while utilizing our partnership with eGov Strategies without having to look outside to a 3rd party vendor.”

“We look at this as another collaborate effort by local municipal governments to communicate with citizens who live, work and visit Dubois County,” says Mayor Seitz.

“The Town of Ferdinand is proud to partner with eGov and the cities of Jasper and Huntingburg on the creation of this emergency notification system,” says James. “This is another example of how our communities are continuing to work together to benefit our residents and workforce members.”
