The United States Census counts every resident in the country. The constitution states, "Enumeration shall be made within three years after the first meeting of the Congress of the United States, and within every subsequent term of ten years, in such manner as they shall by law direct." In plain english, a census must be taken every 10 years. The last such census took place in 2000.
The Census data is vital for the public and the private sector. Not only does it determine how many seats all states , including Indiana, will have in the U.S. House of Representatives, but it also determines political boundries, fosters scientific research, and determines the distribution of state and federal dollars.
By March of this year, the Census Bureau will be mailing out census forms to every resident in the United States. The form contains only 10 questions. Answer the form, and return it in the included postage-paid envelope.
If you do not return the form, you could be visited by a census taker who will ask you the 10 questions and record your responses.

Return the form! Don't count yourself out. Remember, IT'S IN OUR HANDS.
