Due to the upcoming extreme weather event anticipated for our area, it is important to be mindful of natural gas usage during that time. Temperatures will be well-below normal between approximately Saturday, January 13 and Wednesday, January 17, 2024. During this time, residents are encouraged to protect themselves from the elements and avoid any long-term exposure to the extreme cold temperatures, which can be dangerous.

“Our utility department is prepared for the anticipated weather and will be working throughout the duration of the event to ensure our residents have adequate natural gas supply,” says Huntingburg Mayor Neil Elkins. “I am confident that our crews are ready to respond to any issues caused by the extremely cold weather.”

It is also important to remember that energy costs can be minimized in both households and businesses by lowering the thermostat. A one- or two-degree difference can have substantial impact to utility bills during the weather event.
